"That mother fucker!" I switched to longshot mode and aimed at Raze's head, but he began walking toward Dusa and the crowd of cultists blocked my shot.

Layla peered toward the chapel. "What the hell is happening?"

"They're sacrificing Dusa and Aura!" I looked up and around for a vantage point because there was no way I could race through the crowd and up to Raze in time to stop him from killing Dusa. The columns of the library were too wide for me to climb, but a nearby outbuilding looked tall enough to do the trick.

I pointed toward it. "Layla, catapult me up there."

She ran toward it, easily outpacing me, turned, and cupped her hands. I ran up to her, put my foot in her hands, and she launched me upward. I landed neatly on the roof, dropped to my stomach, and aimed at Raze.

He held up his bloodied hands and began chanting in R'lyehian. I let the ambient magic translate. "Grant us your blessings, All Mother, for delivering new guests into your fold. May your fertile womb birth a champion to end the reign of the Elder Gods."

Aura's body stopped twitching and went still as a lake of blood pooled beneath her. I aimed at Raze's head and fired with a focus of will. The pulse of energy cleaved the top of his head off. Steam and smoke trailed from boiling brains. His body remained standing for a moment, then collapsed.

The crowd cheered. People cavorted like headless chickens navigating a bed of hot coals, throwing off their clothes and groping each other madly.

"That's not what I was expecting," I muttered. The fact that the crowd wasn't turning around and screaming for blood was, however, a positive sign. I slid off the side of the roof and dropped to the ground. The sigils on my legs minimized the impact, but my ankles and knees ached from the long fall.

"Raze is down." I looked toward the crowd. "We need to free Dusa and Aura."

Raghat looked aghast. "Aura is dead!"

I nodded. "For a while, anyway." There was no clear path through the crowd, so I banished my staff and raced toward the mob.

Raghat paced alongside me. "Allow me, Cain." He lowered his shoulders and plowed through the crowd of copulating cultists. The muscle mass of Orcs was far denser than that of elves, fae, or humans, but there were so many bodies, that he ended up running right over people rather than clearing a path.

Layla laughed in glee. "This is my kind of orgy!"

A woman grabbed my hand as I ran by. She opened her mouth inhumanly wide and tentacles flailed where her tongue should have been. The other cultists turned toward us, their mouths morphing into monstrosities as they turned toward us like sex-crazed zombies.

"I take it back!" Layla shouted. "They're fucking monsters!"

"Tentacle porn!" I shouted.

She scowled and shook a fist at me.

I took out the vial of face-hugger semen and popped the cork. It smelled even worse now that it was old, but I smeared a dab on my face and the cultists suddenly lost interest.
